In the historic south-west corner of the Cotswolds, high above Stroud on the wilds of Rodborough Common, stands the handsome Bear of Rodborough Hotel. Originally built in the 17th century, this former coaching inn provided a much appreciated resting-place on the main coaching route from Gloucester to London. To this day it offers a warm welcome to all. Built over 300 years ago, this coaching inn has been beautifully restored to embrace and exhibit its heritage and period features. The interior of the Bear of Rodborough Hotel makes lavish use of rich fabrics and antique furniture, and the imposing oak staircase, with its unusual bell pull chandelier, leads to the bedrooms, each distinctively and comfortably furnished.
Set in 300 acres of National Trust land, the Bear of Rodborough Hotel, newly refurbished in 2011, provides a luxurious retreat where you can enjoy fine food and drink while relaxing in a homely and friendly atmosphere. Located in the Main House and adjoining Woodchester House, guests will stay in one of the 46 bedrooms at the hotel, each adding a touch of elegance and individuality to your stay. They are uniquely styled in warm inviting colours, with attention to detail in every bedroom, and many have panoramic views over Rodborough Common and the beautiful Woodchester Valley.
Guests staying on this 2 night package will also receive dinner on their first night of stay at the Library Restaurant, and enjoy a country dining experience that is warm, relaxing and welcoming amongst fine food and good liquor. It’s everything a restaurant in the country should be, providing good quality food with a Great British flair that fuels any excuse to dine out. An inspired location for country breaks at any time of the year, the Bear of Rodborough Hotel is ideal as a centre for country walks and visits to local historic sites. Nestled amongst The Cotswold wool towns, Stroud is known for its cafe culture, arts and crafts, and the surrounding Cotswold Hills exhibits stunning views that stretch all the way to Wales. Nearby towns (Bath, Cirencester & Tetbury) and villages are famous for their wealth and variety of antique shops – all in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
